15 Minutes of Chaos

2021 Student Project,

Supervised by:

Proposed visual identity inviting guests to the State Library of Victoria exhibition for Australian punk-rock band, Primitive Calculators. Outsiders known for their aggressive guitar noises and fast drum repetitions, the visual treatments are an homage to the band’s grunge style and origin. The exhibition’s identity is designed to subtly complement Primitive Calculator’s identity, with references to their screeching sound – a tribute to the band’s musical journey that started with 15 minutes of chaos.

The event identity contains a double-sided printed poster inviting guests to the opening of 15 Minutes of Chaos with some background information and opening times of the exhibition. The bottom of the ticket can be torn from the Event Poster Invitation. This is a reference to the band’s origin and background in performing, giving viewers the emulated feeling of a concert ticket while being more conveniently accessible to fold and pocket away.

Applications included are also a wayfinding system within the exhibition, a gallery facade columnn flag set, a series of tote bag merchandise and a short teaser film.
